Boat shoes are more versatile, sturdier, and look better. Crocs look ridiculous and offer no protection from broken glass or sharp rocks.

I've got lots of pairs of Crocs in various designs and colours (mainly purple). I practically live in them.

I have a pair of dock shoes that replaced the other pair I had for almost 15 years. I expect my new pair to last as long. How long do crocs last?

Boat shoes - or "deck" shoes as we call them. I can't wear plastic shoes, they cut my feet to ribbons, let alone look awful like crocs.

And they last for years if you take care of the leather.

Yes. That is one thing about leather - it can last with proper care. The trouble is, people don't know how to treat shoes with respect these days in our throw-away society.

Yes, there are all sorts of very old traditional products that can keep a pair of shoes going for years and years. Another trick is using shoe trees - they're said to put a year on the life of a pair of leather shoes. Using a shoe horn, six months. But people don't want to make the effort I suppose.
