Believe it or not, there is a movement called "anti-natalism," and it espouses that anyone who procreates is the worst kind of person (worse than murder, since death is preferable to life), because they see life as inherently bad and painful. Some say it's because an unborn ***** cannot consent to being born, and that it is therefore immoral.

Of course, I see this as complete nonsense, as pain is completely subjective, and that wishing death upon your species is the worst kind of philosophy- but nevertheless, these people believe it would be better to forcefully sterilize everybody and let our species slowly die off. Those that aren't militant anyway. Honestly, the militant anti-natalists kind of scare me. Discussion of what would be the best way to destroy our planet was difficult for me to read through as I was researching.

Anyway, I just thought I'd make a poll after reading about this disturbing new philosophy. What do you think of it?

Pro-life. I have run across a couple of individuals on here who feel this way. I find it disturbing.

That reminds me of that 1970s film "Demon Seed," where a woman had a baby with a computer. Freaked me out as a *****.

Life can be difficult, but their perspective seems extreme to me. And they are discussing ways to destroy our planet? That is kind of sick and selfish.

Humans won't be the dominant life form on earth forever. No species ever has been in the past.

Yep.

There's no guarantee the next dominant life form will be carbon based either.

That's true too. It would be interesting if we could find other life not carbon based out there somewhere. Like Mass Effect. haha

I think one of these days, man is going to create a machine that will become self aware. After that who knows what could happen.

AIs, yep. Possible.

Also in the game Mass Effect. Pretty good game.

I think these people have flawed logic. There narrative is that life is a curse and not a gift. I should be in prison for bringing two kids into the world?????? Life can be bad and painful. Life can be great and wonderful. Winston Churchill said when you are going through ****......keep going.

I agree partially with the movement, I guess. I would never have a kid,but I'm looking at adopting in the coming years. I don't support killing of the human race or forcefully sterilizing people.

I want to adopt if I can too. Glad that you don't agree with forcefully killing or sterilizing everyone. lol

I think it's impaired thinking and emotions, extreme, psychotic, and out of reality or any ********** of any of that, or all of it. And as you said, it is complete nonsense. Also, it is arrogance to ****** that you have the right to forcefully *** the entire human race, and to wish to do so is a bit psychotic (once again), to say the least.

I do believe some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them, but, there is a majority that deserve to live.

I'm happy to be alive. Could be that German pilot was an anti-natalist. It's a shame it was illegal to kill him.

I am very "pro" valuing the life that is already here. The only thing I agree with about this warped view is that bringing life into this world is, indeed, something that should be more seriously considered than it often is.

I'm an 'anti-nihilist', like many vegetarians, vegans and environmentalists.

I have no problem with reasonable ways to deal with the issue. I just can't stand the radical ideology that I'm worse than a murderer for giving birth.

Neither can I, and that guy who posted that crap on Mother's Day was WAY 'out there' with his embrace of what I consider a sick view of the world.

It's even worse than those who think women who choose NOT to bring another soul into the world are somehow selfish.

I agree. I have absolutely nothing against people who choose not to have kids. But for them to tell me that my kids are a mistake and that I am torturing them, I might not be so nice...

I wouldn't blame you one bit, for not being "so nice".

The thing about anti-natalists is that the people they talk to usually *** up wanting them to die as much as they themselves do.

Haha, nah. And it seems there are two different kinds here: the kind like the one dude who thinks life is pain and everything should die, and the environmentalists/vegans who say because we are the worst species, only we should die, and let the woodland creatures inherit the earth. lol

I think those people are idiots, and if they truly believed what they preached they would shut up and kill themselves.

I think people are really nuts, and of course it is nonsense. You can lump the *** people in that group as well.

Thank you for the posting, but I agree partially with the movement without totally eliminating the human species. I have chosen not to have kids because of some genetic abnormality within my family and also do my part in solving the population problem. Passing that abnormality onto someone else would be the worst kind of injustice that I can do to someone of the next generation. I would like to see some method of test tube conceptions where we pick the one that is the most genetically pure to be implanted, while the remaining ones can be used to grow a heart or kidney for those who do need the transplant.

I would like to see some law that requires testing anyone who does want a ***** for emotional maturity to qualify him and his partner to do so, as what we do for anyone who wants a driver's license to prove that he can safely operate a vehicle. For some people even one ***** is too many because of emotional immaturity.

The problem with laws on reproduction lie with the fact that anyone can get pregnant or get someone pregnant.

Soooooo...I'd be all for it...if they're willing to lead the way & line up first to be euthanized...from a cost standpoint that's far more effective than simply sterilizing the world's population...or is this just another elitist group that thinks it knows more than the rest of us breeding schmucks...sheeeesh...

Thanks for posting...have heard 'fringe' comments about similar beliefs for years, but wasn't aware it had morphed into a movement...hope my sarcasm wasn't too over the top...
