Abstract Art: Beautiful or Ridiculous?

Just because someone thinks the a painting, sculpture, or other craft "create" something (in their mind}, if it makes them feel a certain way, or even if they think the shape or colors are pretty, don't make it ART. It just makes some people more gullible.

Most I have seen looks someone could have thrown it up. There is some really nice, pleasing abstract out there, but it is rare. Most of what I have seen people "like" is usually because someone else liked it.

I only have original abstract and impressionist art on my walls. If I want to see pretty flowers, I'll go sit in my garden.

Art can also be "in the eye of the 'beer' holder" at time of purchase. (or wine)

Art is in the eye of the beholder. Even abstract art can be liked for one and not for another. I like it, but I like colors.

Some of it is truly amazing... and some of it looks like leftover crap from a kindergarten class.

Art is generally subjective, based upon personal preferences.

In general, I'd say beautiful-of course there's always going to be art that doesn't appeal to me, nobody likes everything, but in general there's lots of abstract art that I like.
