Well, it's September.. Before you know it, it will be Halloween, then Thanks Giving, then Christmas, and New Years.. I like to call October through January the "Gauntlet"! Lol, are you looking forward to it, or dreading it?

Nothing better than decorating for the holidays. I always go overboard and get more every year. My granddaughters love it and I want them to have good memories of the holidays like I do.

my family has been split in half with divorce. It wasn't so bad until I got divorced myself and had to give my daughter up every Christmas

In this small space it would be impossible to describe.
Basically, the Bible is our guide. But manu of our people pray to Jesus in sweat lodges with tradional dancing being considered worship. And we have a very strong social order that believes in helping everyone be provided for. Not the pick yourself up by your own bootstraps type that some have, Because some people are not able to pick themselves up

I believe in Geah (Mother Earth, Earth *******; which ever) but I was brought up with Christian values, and that's what I'm sticking with, for the most part.
Also, different how? I'm curious, lol. :)

Yeah we opt out of receiving gifts too. We are Christian with a Native American slant to it. That makes us somewhat different form what many call "Christian."

Being that I'm not a christian, I pretty much just celebrate with my familly for their sake. I do enjoy seeing my more distant familly, though. I opt out of receiving gifts.

We celebrate by trying to express more love. We don't give a bunch of "gifts."
We have sent a few cards. But not many. We try not to commercial Chistmas too much

Hmmm! And what Holidays are you referring to? Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Day? I can remember my Daddy telling us, that when he was in high school in the late 40's, there were only five Holidays during the whole year, those already mentioned, plus 4th of July and Labor Day.However, I look forward to those plus those I attend because of my Messianic Jewish Life!

They've been spoiled for me as well, though I do have fond memories of when I was a kid and we'd make paper chains and string popcorn to decorate the tree, and though we didn't have the money for very many gifts, everyone always appreciated what they got. Now it seems like each gift is a cringe moment, of whether they'll like it or if they'll complain about it. It has become an unpleasant experience.

I don't mind Thanksgiving, the forgotten holiday often called "Turkey Day" wedged between the commercial Halloween and Christmas. I truly dread Christmas, and would prefer that the rest of my family drop the pagan holiday.

I try to make the best of it but the holidays have been spoiled for me from the very beginning

I have to work my *** off to the brink of death from October to December. I don't get Halloween, Thanksgiving nor Christmas Eve off. I'm so tired and physically tore up from flat-out running to and from a vehicle laden down with 1 to 100lbs for about 12 hours a day that I don't get to enjoy any of those holidays and because I'm on autopilot through those three months of the year. UPS is a very fun place to work if you're at the very bottom of the totem pole: a seasonal helper. The year-long Driver cannot even handle Peaks by themselves anymore, hence they bring people like me in to take all of the physical damages from it (after three Peaks of this I'm developing back problems at just 21). And I feel like a real jackass because I can't afford to give out presents on Christmas... only being able to net $600 to $1,000 per year and not being able to secure a stable and year-long job is also very fun. Everyone should experience it. But then I am not complaining, really. I'm thankful for what little I'm able to get and take my punishment for it gladly. But I'd say that my holiday season ***** way more than most!

This may be the last or second to the last Christmas time at least here in the USA. The predictions for the *** of life as we know it in December 2012 are not that far off the mark.

Go ahead, call me crazy. I have my reasons. If you've paid any attention to the news lately things are "heating up" around the globe and I don't mean that in a thermal way.

Very evil people are about to have access to nuclear weapons and have not been shy about they're intent to use them

Live for today, tomorrow is NOT guaranteed.

Being that I'm not affiliated with the Christian faith, I don't "celebrate" Christmas, per se; I do spend the day with my familly on Christmas, though. I give gifts and I choose not to receive them. I cannot wait for Halloween, Thanks Giving or New Years, though! :D

I love Halloween... but December is a very busy month for us.. All the guys in my life have their birthday in December, so I am constantly going. From birthday parties, to Christmas parties and the actual day... it's just nuts.

This year I am hoping to have more done sooner so hopefully I wont be so stressed.

I really hate the shopping and wrapping part of it, but I love having family gather and celebrating, so it is sort of a toss up.

No, I guess not. I can't be optimistic about anything right now...
