We get ours at the Dollar Tree, 2 for $1.00 and if it's really someone special we splurge and get the one for $1.00

Outrageous. Even a dollar card is ridiculous. I'm not missing the local Hallmark store at all, but the wife sure does.

It's amazing how much they cost compared to years ago especially if you buy them individually. The stamps make it way more expensive. That is why I stopped sending them.

I almost always make my own.
They look better and are more appreciated.

That is why I often make my own, they have always been overpriced.

...but you can always make your own, and when you do, it can mean a lot more.
Besides, putting your heart into something always increases its value... much more so than some spare change.

I only pay like 1 or 2 euro for them. Even in the States I never paid a lot for a card.

Everything is becoming too expensive.

For the most part, yes. Sometimes I buy an expensive card if the occasion calls
for it but I frown at the prices.

Yes! I've started to collect tissue boxes with pretty graphics and other random stuff so that I can make my own :). But if I pick up a card that captures exactly what I want to say, I'll buy it. For the people in my life that will appreciate it.

I checked "Yes" immediately. I'm not so sure upon reflection. Not that a lot of cards - perhaps most - are not overpriced, they are, but, w/o shopping around too ****, you can find them for under a dollar, sometimes a good deal less than that. In a world where meritless egos like Ashleigh Brilliant are given cause to think they can copyright the alphabet, under a buck seems okay.

At the Hallmark store but not at the Dollar Tree! Cards there are either $1.00 and even 2 for $1.00 and they are pretty nice quality! Buy all my cards there now!

Dollar Tree sells them 50¢ apiece.

They are ridiculous.....to buy something that the recipient is almost sure to throw away. I always buy the off-brand. Screw Hallmark.

Picked up one yesterday - $6.99! It was a very basic card. Pretty, but no music or stuff popping up or anything. Just a pretty design with some nice words.

Where I live it is a dollar for each card. I don't know how much the ones in packs cost (in a dollar store) but it is not that great because they is not they many cards in a pack, in the first place. I live in Canada.

Your better off buying a small present. It will last longer and they'll always remember you and why they got it.

I never buy one, if they wait for me to buy one they are out of business. I make one out of a sheet of paper with a personal message......

Yes they can be. That's why i buy a box of them, in various pictures and sentiments. A box of 18 cost $5.00, that's about 25 cents a card. I usually buy nice ones for my son and his girlfriend but that's it.

I usually write my own cards on blanks. Hallmark doesn't need to express my sentiment. Every now and then I'll purchase funny cards if there is a sale or twofer.

I always find the perfect card, and then realize it costs so much I'd have to spend less on the gift. That's when I head over to the dollar store or something and get a cheap card that is, in all honesty, just as good.

yes they are, but Hallmark has some cheap ones, I always look for the not so sappy or the long ones with verses or poems and sentiments that seems too much. Right to the point and depending on the occasion, a hug or a kiss at the ***.
