Oversharing everything. Not just baby pics. I freaked out an online friend back in 2006 or so. She was telling me how her ex was abusive and she had gotten away from him and deleted all information regarding her new location so he couldn't find her. I said "You live in Jonesboro, Arkansas." She sent back "... what?" I repeated it and she was all *** how do you know? I told her her avatar told me. She was using a pic of herself with a Walmart in the background. A nearby street sign said "W Parker Rd" so I Googled Walmart on west Parker Road and it popped up a Walmart in Jonesboro. Took me 3 minutes max. I think I scared her. She stopped speaking to me.

yes, on facebook, every day I'm seeing pictures of a friend's baby. I mean I love the smile it brings, but in a world of kidnapping, stalking and.... you see, I'm getting worked up over a question.

As long as they are being responsible about it who cares? So people can post selfies, food, stupid jokes, hashtag photos, and other unimportant stuff all day. But when a mother puts up pic of their ******** ( or a grandmother post pic of their grandchildren)...'Its soooo annoying and stupid! Your kid is not that cute! Stop posting photos allllll the time!'. Just stop, don't be a hypocrite. Nobody wants to see you or whatever you post all the time but you put it out there anyway. Get over yourselves and get over this topic.

I would never do it. The internet is too porous. Too many opportunities to hijack your kids photos or just hijack your kids period! Too risky!!!!!

There are various levels over at Facebook. 90% of the time or more, what I post I leave as "Public" and anyone can see it. Otherwise it is restricted to "Friends". The only people I will accept as friends are people I have personally met in real life. I don't just add people willy nilly.

It bothers me that people I've never met add me as a friend on facebook. I just check them off as spam

Well, request me, anyway.

Yes, I ignore those requests. Everyone I have as Facebook friends is either a relative or someone I went to school with.

What's the point of boasting to the whole online world that you've got kids?

Certain types, perhaps. You can't blame these parents for having pride in their ********, though. Blame those who use the pictures for evil.

Taking photographs of infants is disgusting in my opinion. It's probably because I'm very superstitious about photographs and babies though... And people share too much personal information online.

I enjoy it. Not to say I am a little jealous.

Kids are adorable, but too many online can be very bad!

And people wonder why others know so much about their life. Like, you just posted your entire life on Facebook. No one is stalking you.

I would have a maximum number of personal posts allowed on social media in a day/week, past that a too much information sensor comes on and locks you out of your account for a day.

Especially when their kids are too young to give consent and it's so easy for pedophiles to use

These ******** have their entire lives documented online through Facebook, twitter, Instagram, etc. and it's very difficult to permanently delete information once you've put it out on the internet. It'll be very interesting to see how this turns out for these ******** when they grow older and become ******.

I like sharing pictures of my son, but then I don't have a billion facebook friends... it's mostly just relatives that want to see the pictures.

So now we have a large extension of a social practice that has been around since cameras.

What else did you expect ?

Other than that, sometimes, some of those babies are pretty fuggly looking.

No kidding! I won't go into any details as to why, but I was once able to find someone's full name, address, and home phone number by doing a few hours of research on the internet. The only information I had to go off of was her first name, her age, the state she lived in, and some of her interests. I have replicated the same thing with a couple of people here on ********, just for kicks. (I never do anything with the information and don't save it.)

It is scary how easy it is to find someone's identity if you trove through a bunch of little details and piece them together. Be careful with what you share online.
