I had to change my eating habits due to anxiety and borderline Hypoglycemia. I eat 6-8 small meals a day, instead of the three larger meals I used to eat. I also have cut way back on meat and sugar (difficult) and no caffeine, and increased my consumption of fresh fruits and veggies. The most noticeable benefit of my diet, is that I don't feel sluggish during the day and I cannot remember the last time I felt hunger pains, since my meals are more evenly distributed throughout the day.

Yup, unless they have a legitimate condition, it's not something people should be cutting

If there is a fad, I'm more likely to go the other way just because it is a fad.

I know the real deal though choose to ignore it quite regularly.

On the long plain I still have better nutrition than whatever infomercial is the flavour of the month.

All of my favorite foods are being replaced at my local grocer's with their gluten-free equivalent. Now I can buy food which has a poor texture and flavor, with more calories, less iron, less protein, more sugar, and added carcinogens which the FDA recommends no one eat more often than once a week.

I don't diet. Never have. A "diet" is temporary, and yields temporary results.
I completely changed my eating habits about 4 years ago, because my gall bladder tried to kill me. My Dr. told me that no one can change their diet significantly enough to prevent it from happening again, and that inevitably, the gall bladder will need to come out--generally within the first year following a gall bladder attack.
Still got mine, and it's not going anywhere.
Almost 3 years ago (in May), I gave up meat. It's not a fad...it's forever.
I eat REAL FOOD every day. I've never been more healthy, and for a 35 year old mom of 3 (first two being twins!), I don't look my age, and my body looks better than it did when I was 18. :)

Well there should have been a "don't know" option for those of us who know little about diets and dieting, I heard of this "Intermittent fasting diet, where you fast for 2 x 24 hour periods a week, I would like to know if it is genuine or not

Unfortunately and totally yes.

For people saying just eat less and exercise more, that's great advice if you've never struggled with over-eating or comfort eating or just have never had an unhealthy attitude towards food. But for those of us who do (and I also have hypothyroidism so cannot eat more that 1400 cals a day without gaining weight anyway), it's much **** and goes much deeper than that. Sometimes you are tempted by the 'quick fix', and it's ****.

If I were to actually diet, I would be dead very shortly. I'm already underweight, and even if I wasn't, I wouldn't diet; at best, diets are a waste of time and energy, and at worst, they can lead to severe health issues, and even death.

I am not now, but I have in the past tried some lame excuses for weight loss plans. All they ever did for me was lose 5 to 10 pounds, then regain 10 to 20! Yo-Yo diets ****!
