People need a well-rounded education so they know what they're talking about when they're commiserating with someone...

I'd respect them more if they didn't than if they did. Why? Because anyone who'd smoke grass is an idiot and thus intellectually unqualified to 'serve' as a leader. Marijuana is MUCH better. :-D

What kind of question is this? What bearing does this have on their ability to lead?

Can you respect your leader if he/she has never driven a ace car at 200 mph?

What's 'educational' about smoking weed? *****!

Even if they smoked a Tree.

The idea that one HAS to do something before they can expound upon it is ridiculous. I don't have to burn myself with a match, in order to be able tell my kids not to play with them.

Actually, I would respect them a heck of a lot less if they had ever smoke marijuana. It shows a complete lack of intelligence and moral judgement. However, I could live with it so long as they wizened up and dropped the drug.

If, on the other hand, they were still sneaking drags I would have absolutely no respect for them at all and would consider them supremely unqualified for the role of leader.

I would respect him or her more if they did not smoke marijuana. One only has to look at Denver to see the disaster the drug is causing. The Governor now wishes the law had never passed.

But then I could respect them if they did too. It depends on how they do the whole job. I don't expect leaders to have experienced everything that I have.

Of Course. They didnt fall into peer pressure like most.Shows a Strength to me.

Ha ha! There are just some things familiar to common people that one wishes Leaders have experiences of...

Quite frankly .. the respect goes up when they've NOT Done any drugs or mind-altering substances at all ..

(there is little to no respect for anyone weak enough to fall to the lure of weed, any form of substance abuse .. any alcoholism .. etc .. )

I'll buy that.

I don't want a leader to be common. I want them to be exemplary and held to a higher standard.
Besides, I'm a "common" person, and I've never smoked weed.

Of course. I can also still respect them if they have. That is a personal choice IMO. But a LAW ABIDING PERSON has not smoked in most places.

I see nothing about which to be ashamed about not smoking grass,-nor anything about smoking grass that would make anyone any better to lead.

We've already got a pot smoking/dealing..cocaine snorting *** man for President...and I SURE don't trust him.

It would not be an issue at all for me. In fact, it would be a normal thing to have not smoked marijuana. I definitely do not think that someone who has smoked pot is more educationally well rounded. You can look at our current president and say from empirical evidence that whatever he did in his youth damaged his brain.

And I certainly don't respect him..on any level.

I'm not really clear how the two are connected! lol

Most of our leaders throughout history has never smoked it. Why is NOT smoking it so controversial?

Makes no difference to me. Many of the countries best thinkers experimented with hallucinogenics. I don't know about positions, but if they do too it's cool with me. Expands the mind. Helps you appreciate differences.

I respect them a whole lot more if they haven't.

Although I will admit to finding myself connecting more with politicians whose life experiences more reflect my own, and marijuana use has certainly been a big part of my life experience heretofore.
I like politicians who have lived a little and experimented and are just normal people.

I would prefer that my leaders have experience on any topic they make a decision about, but I respect the decision of those who wish to remain unenlightened.

Actually I would prefer that my leaders have committed suicide so they can understand and commiserate with others.

Sorry, and don't want to be rude, but that is a completely false and illogical conclusion that you can't understand if you haven't done it. I also haven't committed murder but I can certainly understand how wrong it is. I haven't committed ******** but I understand it is morally wrong. I haven't smoked grass and don't smoke cigarettes but understand the health issues of both.

Why not? I don't have to drink battery acid to know that it's not going to be good for me, so why should a potential leader have to smoke pot to know what it's like? Numerous scientific articles have been written on the deleterious effects of cannabis and its potential addictive nature, especially the more recent, stronger marijuana that is being sold legally in states such as Colorado.

I would be much less likely to trust a person like Barack Obama who had admittedly fried their brain on marijuana and cocaine.

colorado trust person barack obama admittedly fried brain marijuana cocaine

Well, remember Princess Di? I mean not just her, but other royals as well...it's meaningless when they commiserate with the poor but have had no background in it...

Not true. I haven't been homeless but I do commiserate with the homeless and their plight. Some are homeless by choice, others by circumstance.

Some people that smoked it as a youth, then quit think all forms (even the non-THC) should be completely illegal. I can respect a leader that reviews ALL of the facts with an open mind before making decisions.

But I am pretty sure it is legal if it is just grass...lol.
