Straight cash no interest or investment? no, not comfortably. That's only $20,000 for 50 years can you imagine how little 20,000 is going to be worth in 10 years? Id say that unless you did it today, at age 65 you could not.

It really does depend on your age. If you retire at 65 as my husband will ( in a year and a half) we will have more than that. With his 401K, his retirement salary from his Fortune 500 company, his social security and our other investments we will have more than that. Our home is paid so there will be no house payment. Yep we should be in good shape. There is something to be said for staying with the same great company for 42 years.
