When I was seven, I was taking care of several of my younger siblings at a playground-park. My five year old sister decided she wanted to go home and not wait for me and the other kids to go with her. She ran across a busy street and was killed instantly by a large truck with a driver who was speeding and had been drinking..
This has always been part of my life. My parents never blamed me openly but I always felt that it changed their feelings toward me. No one ever discussed the situation after the funeral. Not even my other brothers and sisters, all younger than me.
I haven't lived a life full of guilt. But the feeling is always there. *** Bless my parents for never verbally blaming me. I do wish they had talked about the loss. But it was if the ***** just disappeared.
So different people have different reactions and lives.

Any idiot, regardless of custom knows a gun is deadly in the wrong hands. His fault for being irresponsible.

I can't say enough about this video. I own guns, and they would never play with them loaded. I feel bad for the kid, but his dad makes gun owners look bad. Guns require diligence and responsibility.

the father should have put some thought into it and taken the bullets out of his gun before letting his two year old play with it,. kids are curious at that age they tend to pull things and poke around to figure out how things work. Now the poor kid will find out in the mere future why he doesnt have a dad.

OH My. Katywon you were 7.. Put that in prospective. Legally in the US you can't babysit until you are twice that age! You should never feel guilty! Not one second!

What an idiot! I think the dad deserved it. He was stupid enough to give a baby a loaded gun. Why do that? I am just glad the baby and the other people at the party are ok . Someone else could have been shot due to this loser being so dumb.

That is nice of you to say. Maybe I just had to take out the situation and look at it in a different perspective. Thank you all

The statement about the legal age of babysitting is not true. Each state sets its own age for babysitting. Some states have a defined age, many have no age definition at all.

That, likie this, was your PARENTS fault. Not yours.; YOu were TOO YOUNG for that kin of responsibility, WAY too young. A five year ol is NOT going to listen to a seven year old, poor kid. ::hugs::

Thank you. I think this is the first time in all these years that I ever wrote the facts down and thought about it. Its nice to be able to express yourself to people who listen and do not judge.

You situation differs from this greatly. And you aren't to blame..your parents are...who leaves a 7 yr old to watch a 5 year old. Sorry to say, your parents along with driver should have been charged.

When I was kid it was a given you didn't touch guns at all. NEVER! My Dad was a gun trader and there were many guns all over the place at all times. You never ever, picked up a gun for any reason and your parents never allowed you to play with one.

I agree with that but they still should have showed you how it works and how to fire it.

Dude, shut up. Saying that this guy deserved it is cold. The kid didn't know better, yeah, but still. It would be good for the kid to get hurt.

the dad was being very dumb!

giving a baby, or even leaving a gun near by one. aspecially a loaded gun, is absolutely INSANE. just another reason why there shouldn't be such things as guns. they always *** up hurting someone. something like that, can only be bad.

Sry but mythbusters proved with controlled experiments that the terminal velocity of a falling bullet is not great enough to kill someone

Alright, to anyone who is still reading this. IT WASN'T THE FATHER'S FAULT. He put the gun in his lap and the kid took it without him noticing.

he was an idiot. One, he was standing, so how was it in his lap, two, i dont CARE, you keep your weapon secure at ALL times, ESPECIALLY when there is a ***** around!

Thats bs...the guy stood up..if he left it in his lap it wouldve fallen to the ground

OK im gonna be straight up. this happened in SYRIA. I'm Syrian myself, and I'll break it down for you. Firing off guns is an extremely common practice at wedding/special occasions, and until very recently, it wasn't uncommon to see someone shoot an AK-47 (or Kalashnikov) at such receptions. Sure it was a stupid move, and while most firing at occasions occurs in a controlled manner in this case, it DIDN'T. I hope this answers all those people that are saying "what kind of father would do this!" Now you know. An irresponsible one to be sure, but by the way he was raised, he saw nothing wrong with handing the gun to his kid.

How can you say that it is usually in a controlled manner , shooting buns in the air...controlled ? Were do you think the bullets go ? In to space ? I'm sure many have been injured and some dead from your controlled ...tradition

I think this is a stupid thing to say cause a bullet traveling straight up will eventually stop and start to tumble back down to earth and will not be at a fast enough speed to kill someone or even bruse a person only if the gun is angled at about a 45 degree angle the bullet will continue normally through the air and slowly come back to earth and this could be fatal to someone.

thats definitely not true. Bullets falling straight down have a force of 30 pounds. Enough to cause a serious injury and possibly fatal.

You are incorrect. Completely vertical was busted but they noted it was near impossible to shoot completely vertical. There have been many documented cases of deaths and serious injuries from celebratory gunfirer

I think it is a good thing to give a ***** a gun and show him how it works and how to fire it so the ***** comes accross a gun the ***** will be able to make it safe and handle it without indangering lives rather than picking it up and pulling the trigger because they have never seen a real gun before.

first rule of gun safety, ALL guns are ALWAYS loaded, even when you are sure they are unloaded.

My sister can remember being in her crib. You can keep it quiet for many years until maybe he is ready to handle it. but he will have to know at some point in time. I feel sorry for both. The Dad, because he made a terrible mistake ( like not keeping his gun locked) and the son for inadvertantly ****** the life of his father. It is sad no matter what the case. And no that doesnt mean take any of our rights to keep and bear arms.

What kind of a father lets his two year old son play with a loaded gun?!?!

To be brutally honest, he was asking for something to happen!
