This is why I don't want to live in a neighborhood with an HOA. I want the freedom to decorate my front lawn with pink flamingos.

That is ridiculous! I'd be knocking on the doors of all the residents and bombarding the HOA with letters, calls and doing any and everything I could to get them not just to see reason, but voted out of their positions. I would never live in a place like that, not even if someone gave me a house! A**holes!

That ***** but people really should read the rules before buying in an ***********. There's no way I'd pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for property but give someone else control over what I can do on or with it.

That's so sad. But that is "democracy" at work.
HOAs are pure (selfish) democracy in action.

Common sense says don't move in where there is a HOA and you won't have a problem. They could make and exception but than they would have to do it for everyone.

Another example of a complete and total lack of common sense displayed by the HOA.

I'm living in a HOA situation and I don't like it much. The only reason I am is because my late mom was in Real Estate for many years and she bought this small house for a good deal and rented it out to me in '87. She passed away in '94 and I inherited the house. It isn't too bad here, the Board is lax on things and isn't too strict but there are certain rules that all the yards and outside have to all look the same with the exception if you want to change something you have to get permission then approval depending on what it is. Not all HOAs are the same though. They each have different standards and CC& Rs to go by.

I've gotten used to the ways though and some places have it worse. The Board though is strict about the lawns and upkeep here but we are restricted on watering too and can only do so much with it in these dry conditions we have.

Just from where I'm standing it shouldn't be a problem for the little girl to have her little dream house as long as it is 1. concealed from being seen and 2. The dimensions of the house are within limits. The parents can write a letter to their *****. Board President and explain the circumstances as they should work something out with these people.

Good grief. This is unbelievable. Whatever happened to the time when neighbors really cared about one another? The HOA is more worried about their property values than they are about a very sick little girl. Another sickening comment on today's society.

That is why I would never buy a house with HOA. They go the extremes that people cannot enjoy living in their own house in the way they like it. In some of them you cannot have fences or a big dog, dog houses, play houses, hanging your clothes to day, you are not allowed to fix or even wash your car in your driveway, it is like living in an apartment building when you actually have a house with a front and backyard with space to enjoy.

Any person caught commiting cruelty toward an animal is prosecuted. By the same token,
any ruthless HOA representatiuve inflicting harm upn a ***** by denying a vital wish, ought to be legally taken to task to the hilt.

My neighborhood has an HOA and it's great. They haven't denied it per the video, so they will probably OK it.

No one forces people to own a home where there is an HOA. If you cant abide by the rules, don't live there and everyone will have Happy Days.

HOAs are mini-dictatorships. There are 2 near where I live...one is a lake community and the roads are horrendous. My son is thinking about moving there and we told him we would not be visiting if he does....and don't plan on bringing his extra vehicles and outdoor fun equipment here because we've already got enough with his boat and trailer. He is the type of guy that doesn't like authority so it's unbelievable that he would even THINK about moving there.

The other HOA is a RETIREMENT community where every home and yard looks alike. Most of the seniors who moved there have moved out within a year. They lost a lot of money on selling the properties because no one wants to move there.

Why buy a home in a HOA when you have to pay thousands of dollars in taxes plus *********** fees and have to live by their rules like a dictatorship? That's crazy!
