ps...if you can stay off all the heart meds they are probably going to want to put you on (statins/beta blockers etc), you would be way ahead of the game. Read some of the side effects. Hubby is only on two that help his heart function (ability to beat ******) after yrs on Lipitor and Zestril (bad stuff). Look up side effects and if you really, really need them.

Well I'm not gonna slam your voodoo medicine........sometimes natural remedies are the best....my wife could not take Lipitor.....her legs ached.......I haven't had any noticable side effects from Crestor......Like you I do think the country definitely is over medicated...most doctors do recommend the statin drugs for control of cholesterol...I will look into that sometime......

Hopefully, except for the aspirin, you can get off those especially since the docs said no heart damage, right? Ck out red yeast rice ... Healthy Origins brand at Vitacost. Hubby's cholesterol used to be sky high. Three bottles of this 5 - 6 yrs ago and his cholesterol has been perfectly normal since... kid you not. Surprised even me that he could stop it and his numbers stayed down. Have you noticed yet that I like alternatives rather than rx meds? lol.. Hubby is terrific about going along with my 'voodoo' remedies.

I didn't think about the other organs...hmm.. interesting. Yes.. your ejection rate is sooo important. Hubby's is something like 25%... not good but honestly, you would never know it by his actions. With no muscle damage, your doc is correct. You should be like brand new after the surgery. Thanks for the best wishes and the very same to you, my friend. *** bless.. Lola

Awww Sounds like he has a real struggle in the beginning.......that is the problem with heart surgery,.,....the surgeon explained that to me....he said the heart surgery was good for the heart, unfortunately is wasn't good for the other organs.......anything can happen that's for sure......well according to the catherization and echo cardiograms and my heart ejection fraction...I have no muscle damage......He thinks I should do fine......but with any major surgery, anything can happen.......it's all in ***'s hands and a very talented team of Drs. Thanks for the information.......I wish you and your hubby the best::-)....Take Care Lola:-)

Hubby's heart surgery was fantastic. But.. he had apparently had a 'silent heart attack' in the past (b4 bypass surgery) and had some heart damage. He was dx with CHF and had to take fluid pills to get rid of fluid that his heart couldn't manage. He hated.. despised taking fluid pills. His legs got swollen and he got cellulitis which led to the blood poisoning. They said his organs were shutting down and didn't give us much hope that first 48 hrs but that stubbornness of his worked in his favor now..lol.. He was in a coma/semi-coma for about 4 wks but pulled thru.

He now takes his fluid pills religiously..lol..and is doing wonderfully and feeling better than he did before his hospitalization. I guess he has learned his lesson, right? Of course I have him on some Standard Process vitamins for his CHF now. Mainly the Cataplex B and CardioPlus. You should look them up and look up Dr. Bruce West's protocol for heart disease. Later, gator.:) Lola

Hubby was in the hospital a year ago for sepsis.. blood poisoning. We almost lost him. He was in hospital..ICU for six weeks then in physical therapy for a month. I too was dreading getting the bill but... we didn't pay a dime. We have medicare and a supplement.. Mutual of Omaha. Of course, between paying medicare premiums and supplement and rx coverage premiums we put out $ 800 x month for the two of us. But worth it when something serious comes up. It always amazes me that, for some reason, younger folks think medicare doesn't cost us ...LOL.. NOT !!

Sounds like you are in very good hands. I am in central VA and Duke has an excellent reputation. You would be **** put to find a finer hospital in this part of the country. They say the trick to coming thru complicated surgeries is to find docs who have done a ton of the procedures. Sounds like your docs fill the bill for that requirement and then some so you should do just fine. But be sure to keep us posted. xoxo

your are most welcome. What ins do you have? Hubby was on Teamsters back then and I think the surgeon's bill was the one we had to pay the most on. The rest wasn't too bad. $ 65,000 for 4 days in hosp and we paid very little of that, if I recall. Of course, this was 15 yrs ago and no clue what it might cost nowadays.
