YES!! The really GOOD ones - the ones that produce serious results - are vastly underpaid. Many others - those who go along to get along, worry more about PC issues, self-esteem, etc. rather than education - are worth much less and, in fact, should be replaced for lack of proficiency.
First, however, the whole education structure requires a radical change, beginning with the disbanding the DOE and terminating all administrators who fail in their responsibility. Rid the system of all teachers' unions which are more interesting in protecting their ***** than in educating our ********. Bring firm discipline back to the schools and make parents responsible for the actions of their ********. Take a **** look at the days/hours spent in school and increase them as needed. Student proficiency should be required for advancement - no ticky, no yaundry. Return to phonics. To the classics. To language, logic, oratory. Turn teacher education back to teacher education instead of the shame it has become. Tay-O ... I'll shut up now.
