IMO, the only people who are truly "fearless" are not very sane.

On occasion, I feel afraid; but I don't let it consume me and I still do whatever needs to be done.

I have lived in many countries in wartime conditions and done things most people would consider very dangerous like getting interrogated by the KJB and arrested in Iraq by Saddam Hussein. I have had dysentery, Dengue Fever and Malaria and declared dead several times. But since my OBE as a ***** when the doctor declared me dead I have had a faith that has kept me fearless. It ahs also allowed me to raise a woman from the dead in Saltillo, Mexico in 1977 and deliver people from demonic obsession and possession.

I'm never scared of things like dark alleys, weird people, food sanitation, terrorists, African diseases, guns, climbing up rock walls, riding my bike off cliffs. Commitment though, now that's something else entirely.

Gawd no. But I CAN be courageous.

Robert A Heinlein : Courage is the complement of fear. A man who is fearless cannot be courageous. (He is also a fool.)

Courage is being scared to death... and saddling up anyway.

As far as boldness, yes. I'm a surfer, extreme mountain biker, free-runner, and former auto racer. But I still have deep personal fears like losing the ones I love. And spiders. I don't do spiders.

Found that out in November of 2013. Then, I used to think I would never be afraid of anything, let me tell you, I was dead wrong!

I grew up around a whole pack on neurotics who went through life doing nothing, worrying about "What if ...." and extrapolating that into all kinds of nutty scenarios that never happened. I am by no means careless and don't take crazy chances, but I'm willing to try new experiences now and then.

Without fear I couldn't be brave.

I may be crazy, but I am not stupid. At a very young age, I realized that I do not nor never will have the grace of a gazelle.

“My religious beliefs teach me to feel as safe in battle as in bed. *** has fixed the time of my death. I do not concern myself with that, but to be always ready whenever it may overtake me. That is the way all men should live, and all men would be equally brave.”
