Unless you're particularly observant, you probably haven't spent a whole lot of time examining what other shoppers do when you're getting groceries. Most of us just want to get what we need and get out. With that in mind, we polled more than 1,000 people about their grocery shopping habits -- how often they go, how they pay, if they prefer self-checkout. We even asked if they've ever stolen anything from a grocery store. If you're curious to know the answers, just check out the infographic below!

Correction;

A fourth of the people on ** who answered your poll have stolen from the grocery store.

This site does NOT represent the entire nation accurately.

One time, when I was 10, my brother and I got caught stealing bags of candy. The ********* manager took us into his office and was in the process of asking us questions when a clerk entered the office and told the manager about some guy causing problems in the store. The manager left and locked us in his office. I immediately started opening his desk drawers, and lo and behold, a cash drawer filled with cash. We took the $350.00 and change and climbed out a window. We were never caught. Unfortunately, the very next day my Mother came in my room, walked over and picked up my jeans to wash them, and found the money. Because I could not explain where I got the money, she confiscated the cash and left me with the change. That taught me that lesson that crime doesn't pay.

I've stolen eyedrops before. Well kind of, it wasn't intentional. Lady said it was paid for and when I left the shop they called me on my cell. Went back and paid. Also when I was realy little think I took a candybar. But that was like when I was 6.

I sampled grapes once at Walmart... But only because I had to wait for my ride home and received a call saying that my ride would come in 5 hours.

"The average American buys groceries once a week at a traditional supermarket and prefers to pay by debit. Where?"
This data has WHAT to do with shoplifting??? Splain me....

I love it when stores use racial profiling while their other customers rob them blind. Act like a jackass- I won't point out the shoplifters.

I think what the pic about who does the shopping, is it fails to identify single *** households. I.e. apartment with one resident, or two of the same gender.

The bottom graphic is missing some information.

OK....well is there a question here?...or is this just a general statement? Perhaps 25% of people are just thieves due to a bad economy.

I read that right after the melt down, shop-lifting shot up. The most shop-lifted items were high-*** fancy cheeses and coffees, all the people that couldn't afford that stuff any more still wanted it.

I have never stolen anything, I would correct a cashier if I was not charged correctly, and I would return any incorrect change given me. But, the govenment has been stealing from me for a long time and calling it "taxes" and demanding I pay "my fair share."

This is no true its not even funny. The more money you make the more money the government takes. They even take a large sum of your money if you win the lottery.

The last one was so funny

I wrk part time in a grocery store. I see a lot of couples shopping . I noticed that younger shoppers buy more junk foods with food stamps. Older shoppers WITh or without FS bay more sensible food choices. Wren I shop for myself I find a lot of half eaten fast foods, chicken , empty **** bottles, candy wrappers etc......I guess a whole lot of people are eating away or a few that do it often ??

Kind of feel like I shouldn't have voted now, not being American, as it messes with the 'average American' results they're declaring.

P.S.--as for shopping, I do all of the grocery shopping--and most of the cooking. My wife shops for the big stuff and handles most bills. Works fine
