I turn my thermostat back to 59 when I go to bed and leave it there until about 3 in the afternoon and then turn it up to 70 for a few hours until I go to bed.

55 - 60. That's still a 70 - 80 +/- temperature differential 'tween inside/outside, and that's just fine.

We live high in the Rockies with lots of sunshine - house stays in 70's during the day in winter (heater set at 62 -- have no AC) and we do set the heater at 56 during the night (it was 12 last night so heater does come on) Summer, we open the windows and enjoy the breeze - average temp is low to mid 70's. We are in heaven.

... and maybe a little lower since Mother Nature decides for us. No problem, we have to add and subtract clothing during the day but it seems ignorant to heat an entire house just to keep ourselves from having to add another layer.

Fortunately, I live with someone now, my own sister, who dislikes high heat as much as I do.
