I actually mean other: religion is a social construct, a tool. As Christianity went through its dark ages, Islam too is going through theirs (albeit slower due to perpetual interference from the more powerful countries). I'm now going to just take this opportunity to voice my opinion on why it is the way it is, and what we should do:
Medieval England was a place of religious upheaval with the start of Henry VIII creating his own church and proceeded to burn tens of thousands (though it is not known for sure) if they clung to Catholicism. Similar Christian based events occurred throughout the middle ages. However, not all Christians were bad, they were simply scared of those in power. Same goes with Muslims today. They should not all be treated like scum because of the extremists' actions, and in many cases, their fear of being tortured and killed for standing up to such.
Imagine if a more powerful country had invaded England at the time of Henry VIII's reign and tried to force some kind of more forward thinking system on them...they would revolt violently. Also imagine if Medieval England had had access to the weapons we do now...I'm sure the death count would have been higher. Social change has to happen within the country, invasion based change is much more difficult and in m...

I say we leave the middle east alone, let them figure it out. It is terrible what many people have and will go through, but it is obvious that our intervention is only harmful. I think it would be best to instead use spies to infiltrate and prevent terrorism on our own soil.
