It's a flour sifter and it's still in use . You can buy one in Target or Walmart but I've only ever seen them in stainless since I was a *****,nnever painted.

I saw something simular in my grandmas kitchen, I'm not sure what it's called but it shakes and seperated flour or baking **** or other baking powders right?

A flour sifter. Good to have. Or, and I can't see inside...it could be grinder of some sort...I have a ginger grinder that kind of looks like that...

I like to cook, and I have one that's pretty old. I still use it sometimes on some of the older recipes that call for "sifted flour". I'm one of those Type-A people that follows everything to the letter in the kitchen. lol
