Very easily, I greet people that I know with it often. I had to laugh one time when I did it to someone who clearly didn't know Star Trek; as when I did it they said "Is that some weird way of giving me the finger?" So I laughed and said "No, if I wanted to hurt you in any way I'd give you the Vulcan death grip or nerve pinch." XD
