NEITHER are nutty.

The Satanists stood up for religious freedom, and the Florida School Board made a great decision.

not all things Satanist are bad.
Actually, Satanism teaches us to not be greedy for you will have eternal punishment when asking for too much like Lord Mephistopheles did.
And yes there's dark magic involved but not all people can do it.

I submit that all mystical things satanist are as unreal as all mystical things faithful.
(i.e. "dark magic" isn't real)

Regarding the rest, (when I was a Christian, I'd use the following to demonstrate how similar Humanism and Satanism is (I'm an atheist/humanist now but, I sure as heck don't believe in Satan):
I’ve been doing a number of radio interviews lately in connection with the release of Dr. LaVey’s latest book, Satan Speaks. There are a few questions that seem to crop up in every interview, and I’m sure that, in talking with friends and acquaintances, you get asked the same questions quite often. The Satanic Bible came out in 1969 and hasn’t been out of print for 30 years. The philosophy really isn’t that esoteric and doesn’t take much pondering to understand. But it’s that looming figure in the shadows, that majestic silhouette of Satan - leathery wings outstretched, standing proudly, backlit by the flames of ****—that people find...disquieting. If you’re new to Satanism, or simply curious, perhaps a brief discussion of one of the most common questions might help you to better understand what this site is all about. Why call it Satanism?

Dr. LaVey has answered this question many times in his writings and in interviews but, apparently, it’s a tough concept for some people. It is usually accompanied by, “You know, everything you say makes a lot of sense. But that name, ‘Satan’, is a real turn-off for people. Why don’t you just call it ‘Humanism’ or something—you’d get a lot more followers.”

As long as the coloring book didn’t have any religious connotations and was appropriate, i.e. not overtly graphic, I’d have no issue with it.

But the same goes for any religion; I wouldn’t want any religious organization using coloring books to spread their religion at a public school.

From Snopes:

"During President Obama's address to the UN General ******** in September 2012, he listed groups, ideas, and people whom "the future does not belong to." Among those listed were people who bully women, those who target coptic Christians in Egypt, dictators who massacre their country's citizens, and those who turn their backs on peace. The President's full speech can be read at WhiteHouse.gov, and the relevant section is reproduced below:

"It is time to leave the call of violence and the politics of division behind. On so many issues, we face a choice between the promise of the future, or the prisons of the past. And we cannot afford to get it wrong. We must seize this moment. And America stands ready to work with all who are willing to embrace a better future.

The future must not belong to those who target Coptic Christians in Egypt — it must be claimed by those in Tahrir Square who chanted, "Muslims, Christians, we are one." The future must not belong to those who bully women — it must be shaped by girls who go to school, and those who stand for a world where our daughters can live their dreams just like our sons.

The future must not belong to those who bully women — it must be shaped by girls who go to school, and those who stand for a world where our daughters can live their dreams just like our sons.

The future must not belong to those corrupt few who steal a country's resources — it must be won by the students and entrepreneurs, the workers and business owners who seek a broader prosperity for all people. Those are the women and men that America stands with; theirs is the vision we will support.

The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam. But to be credible, those who condemn that slander must also condemn the hate we see in the images of Jesus Christ that are desecrated, or churches that are destroyed, or the Holocaust that is denied.

Let us condemn incitement against Sufi Muslims and Shiite pilgrims. It's time to heed the words of Gandhi: "Intolerance is itself a form of violence and an obstacle to the growth of a true democratic spirit." Together, we must work towards a world where we are strengthened by our differences, and not defined by them. That is what America embodies, that's the vision we will support."

Of course, we don't have to read a 2012 speech to understand Obama's perspective on the Charlie Hedbo attack. The President released a statement on 7 January 2015 saying Paris will ****** "beyond the hateful vision" of those responsible:
France is America's oldest ally, and has stood shoulder to shoulder with the United States in the fight against terrorists who threaten our shared security and the world. Time and again, the French people have stood up for the universal values that generations of our people have defended. France, and the great city of Paris where this outrageous attack took place, offer the world a timeless example that will ****** well beyond the hateful vision of these killers. We are in touch with French officials and I have directed my Administration to provide any ********** needed to help bring these terrorists to justice." "

It's almost entirely just a transcript of the President's speech.

Laughing at Snopes is so obviously a way to avoid facts; that's pathetic.

Obama's pathetic apologetics for terrorism are equally laughable. Islam is the problem - it forms no part of the solution

Neither. I think it's a good way to point out that many Christians will preach about their right to express their religion until someone else tries to do it.

Thanks for the statement.. I don't get mad when you say these things because I once was like you. And i have to keep reminding me of that and I look at how I am now and I praise the Lord for that not me.

1. If I am going to believe in *** as I do, I must believe that He is not a Liar, that He is Holy and Righteous and that his Judgments and words are true

Even his enemies acknowledged him, Demons acknowledged that he was ***'s Son. The Roman Government acknowledged him and nailed him to a Cross.. He claimed He was *** and said He would raise from the dead.
The Roman Government believed him because they posted a guard outside his tomb and as He said, Three days later He rose from the dead

He has made drug addicts clean overnight, made Drunks free and clean, He has changed the whole world and He only preached for three years yet his followers spread the word and millions and millions of people down through the centuries have found Peace and forgiveness of sins because of Jesus Christ

No, Christianity is not a blind faith. It is not a Fairy tale because Jesus Christ is alive and the tomb is empty. For thousands of years man has tried to destroy ***'s word, and yet it is alive and while Millions call themselves Atheist and mock his name, Jesus continues to love them and offer forgiveness

THE FOOL HAS SAID, THERE IS NO *** BUT I KNOW HE LIVES BECAUSE HE LIVES IN MY HEART AND I AM WITNESS TO WHAT HE HAS DONE IN MY LIFE AND MILLIONS OF OTHERS

These people didn't actually care about handing out Satanic Coloring books, they were just showing Christians if they could give out stuff anyone could. Neither in this poll are nutty

The Satanists simply demanded the same priviledges Christians were being accorded - the Board acted like spoiled brats (though, ultimately and entirely unintentionally, they did the proper thing)...

It's always interesting to see that passage.

You believe the unbelievable then seek refuge in words from the book of mythology that inspires your belief. And you seem to think it legitimizes your belief in the unbelievable. Many abusers also tell their abused that if they tell anyone, they'll think they're crazy. Interesting how these two things are similar.

I agree!!!

The schools should instill a proper fear of Great Cthulhu... if we properly serve him, we will be allowed to interbreed with the Deep Ones and will avoid catastrophe when R'yleh rises and Great Cthulhu devours mankind... Ia Ia Cthulhu Fataghan!

Now, if you don't want that being taught in public schools... how about you keep your religion at home too? That would be great!

I think the Satanists were making a point. We have a secular government which means all government facilities are neutral (or should be) on the subject of religion. This protects the right of all Americans to worship according to their own conscience. Too many Christians don't seem to get this and insist on trying to push their way in where they don't belong.

The school board made the right the decision. The only nut cases in this story are pushy, arrogant Christians who refuse to keep religion out of the public sector.

I agree and I was going to say they were both nutty but the question asks if the school board and the Satanists were nuts. Christians were not thrown into the mix.
